PSYCH-K® As An Energy Psychology

The name PSYCH-K® seems to turn people away before they even know what it is. Therapy couches and awkward, uncomfortable, delving questions come to mind. No one likes to dig up the past along with all the pain, heartache and trauma attached to it. However, PSYCH-K®can be seen as a form of energy psychology

I won’t even attempt to explain the origins of the name. Suffice it to say, PSYCH-K® is not therapy. Don’t reach for your running shoes just yet.

Indulge me for just a couple of minutes while I explain…

Psyching your nervous system

Did you know that your nervous system doesn’t know the difference between what is real and what is imagined? Think about it for a minute; imagine sucking on a lemon or stuffing a couple of sour worms into your cheek. Just reading this has probably activated your salivary glands and you can feel the resultant saliva rush flooding your mouth. Just imagining the sourness in your mouth has signalled your body to react.

React is a lovely word; act again, act in the same way as before. If you have never experienced the sour zing of a lemon or a sour worm then you won’t react to the words above.

We react to what we have previously experienced, in the same way we acted before. This may have been a vital defence mechanism for primitive man but as many of the dangers of the natural world have been tamed, we are no longer in mortal danger on a daily basis.

Our nervous system, however, is still reacting to life’s dangers, real or perceived, in the same way. The triggers and reactions may vary in intensity from mild discomfort to a full blown fight and flight response but you have to realize that the reaction is the result of your being trying to keep you safe. You reacted in a certain way in the past and it kept you alive so the response gets earmarked for future use. Each time this reaction is triggered it becomes more deeply programmed.

Responses and Reactions

A little girl’s response to her angry father roaring about something she allegedly did gets repeated over and over again throughout her life. Close to eighty years of age, a close friend snaps about some trivial thing, and the little girl takes over, the old lady starts to shake, tears prick her eyes and her heart sinks.

We don’t always know what causes our reactions but we often are able to feel that something is not balanced. Our “overreactions” can be confusing. We begin to feel that we are not good enough and our low self-worth spirals into anxiety and depression.

PSYCH-K® As An Energy Psychology

Not all reactions involve adrenaline and full-blown fight and flight from trauma. We have “funny” reactions that become family jokes; “He can have a cold shower but two raindrops on his head and he gets sick”. “She will never run out of milk, it’s the one thing we always have too much of”. While talk therapy certainly has its place, my personal experience left me feeling helpless and quite desperate as I repeated my story, and triggered the reaction over and over again.

My nervous system relived the trauma. It was only when I stumbled upon energy work that I started to feel a shift. By giving my nervous system a different way to respond, I finally broke the cycle of reaction and I began my healing journey.

Subsequently, Dr Bruce Lipton’s book, The Biology of Belief, explains how we respond to our perception of our environment.

Our Perception Creates the Story

What happens to us and how we perceive the event are two different things. Two people who go through the same experience will tell two different stories because they perceive things differently.

We are very quick to mention all the ways our parents wronged us and we swear we will do a better job. But years later, our children can mention one way after another that they were wronged by us, even though we did the best that we could at the time. I am always amazed when my children recount stories of their childhood. I find myself wondering where they come up with the things that they say. Our perceptions of the event could not be more different. Are they fabricating? No, but neither am I. Neither is telling the “truth” because truth doesn’t exist; only our perception does and our perception is coloured by our past.

In the first years of life we download all we see, hear and experience – like loading an iPod. This information becomes what we call our sub-conscious. Our mind is comprised of two parts; our thinking, reasoning, conscious mind (5%) and our sub-conscious mind (95%), the part which keeps our heart beating all night long, controls our nervous system and a myriad other body functions which we never have to concern ourselves with.

PSYCH-K® To Change Limiting Programs

Without easy access to our sub-conscious, it is difficult to change those operating systems, or programs, which were laid down in those early years. Our reactions also fall into the realm of the sub-conscious which is why we are not always consciously aware of them, what caused them to be put in place or how much they are limiting our potential. There are a few ways to change the sub-conscious programming, including hypnotherapy, repetition (repeating something thousands and thousands of times over) and energy work.

PSYCH-K® is a kinesiology protocol which accesses the sub-conscious using muscle testing as a biofeedback system. It is simple and elegant and profound in its ability to change one’s perceptions to past events.

You can use PSYCH-K® to change your limiting programs and strengthen your positive affirmations. Working with a certified facilitator helps you to see beyond the box of your perceptions.

We are so used to our story and we defend it so well that we are not always able to see the connections of our past to our present day reactions. Bringing those connections to our conscious awareness is the beginning of our healing process. Understanding why we behave in a certain way goes a long way to easing our anxiety. But the cherry on the top, is to change our perceptions with a PSYCH-K® balance. Experience has taught me that, though one session is enough to feel shift, each follow up session enables you to address deeper seated issues. The more comfortable you become with the process, the more you trust it and the more you trust it, the more you shift.

Change Your Energy, Change Your Life

In PSYCH-K® you change your energy, you change your epigenetics and you change how you feel on a cellular level.

I facilitate a session, but you, the client, do the work. You heal yourself by allowing shift, by restoring balance and by embracing positive change.

In a 60-minute zoom session, we take a context which is charged and we work with it together. Chipping away at the resistance, reducing the uncomfortable feelings and subsequently replacing the limiting beliefs with new, empowering ones.

How will you feel at the end of a balance? Most people use the words relief, ease, clarity, quiet, peaceful, motivated, ready to do the work. When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

Are you ready to change the way you feel?

Try PSYCH-K®. It’s safe and gentle and you are always in control.
